IN THIS LESSON

Focus: kindness, empathy, and emotional intelligence.

Lesson Objective:
Students will explore what it truly means to be a hero — not through strength or power, but through kindness. They’ll learn how small acts of compassion can make a big difference in the world around them.

Learning Goals:

  • Understand that kindness is a real-life superpower

  • Identify ways to show empathy and help others

  • Express kindness through both art and action

Activity: Acts of Kindness Comic Strip

Students will create a short 3–4 panel comic strip showing their superhero performing an act of kindness.
Examples include:

  • Helping someone in need

  • Standing up for a friend

  • Sharing something valuable

  • Encouraging someone who feels left out

Prompts to include:

  1. What was the situation?

  2. What did your hero do to help?

  3. How did it make others feel?

  4. How did your hero feel afterward?

Reflection: Everyday Heroes

  1. What’s one kind thing you can do this week?

  2. Who has shown kindness to you lately?

  3. How can kindness make your classroom or community better?

Therapeutic Focus:

This week builds empathy and self-awareness, helping children see that being kind creates safety, connection, and confidence — powerful skills both in and out of the classroom.
